According to reports, Jennifer Hudson and longtime fiancé David Otunga have split after 10 years. Hudson also filed to have a restraining order taken out against Otunga to which Otunga’s attorney, Tracy Rizzo, says is a move made out of fear of losing custody of their child. Rizzo told TMZ:
David Otunga has been trying to negotiate the terms of an amicable parenting agreement with Ms. Hudson for several weeks now. However, when it became apparent to Ms. Hudson that Mr. Otunga would be the parent granted residential care of the child, as a result of Mr. Otunga being the child’s primary caregiver while Ms. Hudson pursues her career all over the world, Ms. Hudson decided to file a meritless Petition for Order of Protection in an effort to gain an unfair advantage in the custody dispute. […] As a result of Mr. Otunga’s career in the WWE, Ms. Hudson felt that she could give an award-winning performance in court to portray herself as the victim. Mr. Otunga has never abused or harassed Ms. Hudson or their son.
Jennifer Hudson’s representative told People Magazine that the restraining order was requested “in the best interest of their son.” It is important to note that Otunga isn’t being accused of getting physical with Hudson.
Master P is reportedly taking a California based cannabis company to court for bailing on their partnership, according to TMZ.
Master P got into the legal cannabis industry in November 2016 to launch his own branded strain, “Master P’s Trees” and brokered a deal with Privateer Holdings in March 2017. P was to promote the product and cover 50 percent of the production costs while Privateer cultivated the product and covered the other half. “Master P’s Trees” were set to launch in July, but according to court documents, the company backed out of the partnership at the last minute.
Master P is suing Privateer on the grounds of fraud and breach of contract claiming that they had no real intent to partner with him. Court docs state that Privateer only saw Master P as a way to get “an inside look into the urban and hip-hop demographic of cannabis users.”
For this, Master P is seeking $25 million in lost profits and damages.
Tyrese claimed that his close friends Will and Jada Pinkett Smith lent him $5 million so that he could ‘afloat’ amid his custody case with his ex-wife. The singer/actor made the announcement of the donation on his social media account on Sunday writing, “I’ve been on with lawyers all day but our family and our sister Jada-Pinkett Smith and my brother Will Smith just sent us 5 million to help keep us afloat.”
He went as far as to continue to post allegations that he was still waiting for the check from the couple to clear. However, according to TMZ sources close to Will and Jada vehemently deny giving Tyrese any money. Reportedly, The Smiths are worried that Tyrese is having a mental breakdown while in the midst of the court battle with his ex-wife over the custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla.
Social media has been buzzing about Cardi B and Offset of Migos after Offset proposed to his girlfriend while on-stage at Power 99’s Powerhouse Concert in Philly. The proposal from Offset came only days after the two had allegedly broke up, with Cardi B posting videos saying that she was reportedly single. Along with the timing on when Offset proposed, many have been shocked by the stunning ring that he purchased for her.
Now, reports are surfacing saying that the eight-karat engagement ring Offset gave to Cardi B costs about $550,000. The price of the ring was confirmed by the owner of Pristine Jewelers in New York City. The shape of the ring presented to Cardi B is a raindrop that was custom-made by the jeweler. The eight-karat ring has two-karats worth of white and pink stones and is also surrounded by two half-karat diamonds.
$550,000 is a bit much, but Offset may be able to get some of that cash back if he and Cardi B take up one of the many deals offered to them to show their wedding in a reality show special format. Mona Scott-Young of Love and Hip Hop on VH1 along with other networks have reportedly offered up to one million dollars so far.
After signing her multi-million dollar deal with Columbia Records executive Shawn Holiday, Remy Ma made a new partnership with Lil Kim. According to TMZ, Remy Ma and Lil Kim are teaming up to make a new Nicki Minaj diss record. Allegedly the track is called “Wake Me Up” and it’s filled with subliminal shots at Nicki Minaj.
“That crown I’m gon take that sh*t. Cause you a clown and homie don’t play that sh*t.”
“I heard he lay that d***. You let them filet that fish. You just met him how he bae that quick?”
It appears that Remy is throwing shots at Nicki’s relationship with Nas, which publicly appeared to take off quickly. Allegedly Remy and Kim shot a video for the record last week in the Bronx. We’ll keep you updated on any new developments of the track.
Remy Ma also has a new manager. Tamar Braxton’s soon to be ex-husband, Vincent Herbert is now on board. It looks like Remy is gearing up to take over 2018. With the emergence of other female acts such as Young M.A and Cardi B, it’s great to see Remy working with another female emcee, but is dissing Nicki Minaj good for the culture?
On Wednesday (Oct. 25) it was reported that New Zealand’s National Party would have to award the publishing company Eight Mile Style about $415K, after using a song similar to “Lose Yourself” in a 2014 advert. Now, one of Em’s rep has said that the Detroit rapper will be donating all of those proceeds to hurricane relief.
The rep was sure to clarify that Eminem did not file the lawsuit against the government himself, “Eminem was not a party to this lawsuit nor was he consulted regarding the case. Any monetary settlement he receives from it will be donated to hurricane relief. He encourages the plaintiffs, 8 Mile Style, to do the same.” This act of philanthropy should be useful as hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria, have devastated many lives in Miami, Texas and Puerto Rico. A great deal of Puerto Rico is still without water or power.
The lawsuit was filed by publishers against the NZ party back in September of 2014 for the use of a song titled “Eminem Esque.” A judge ruled it infringed on copyright as it was very similar to Em’s original work. “‘Eminem Esque’ has substantially copied ‘Lose Yourself,’” the ruling states.
