The extended clip of Kanye’s TMZ visit is even more brutal to watch

Kanye West’s embrace of the far right came to a head on Tuesday when he appeared on TMZ Live and told hosts Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere that slavery in the United States “sounds like a choice.” Kanye faced plenty of outrage on the internet, but TMZ’s Van Lathan took him to task to his face, and quickly became a hero.

Now, TMZ has shared a 12 minute “extended cut” of the encounter. Kanye starts with a discussion of his meeting with President-elect Donald Trump soon after the election, during which he claims he was “drugged the fuck out” from an opioid addiction, which he developed after a liposuction procedure. But he’s off medication now, Kanye says: “These pills that they want me to take three of a day? I take one a week, maybe, two a week. Y’all had me scared of myself, of my vision.”

The new footage also includes more of Van Lathan’s viral dressing-down of Kanye, who said that his view of the world is “grounded in reality,” unlike Kanye’s. “[Van] said grounded in reality,” Kanye responds, “this reality has been forced on us. It is a choice, like when I said slavery was a choice… We can talk about history, but not too long. We need to focus on our now.”

Kanye then went on to claim that black people don’t speak up on the issue of black-on-black crime, a persistent right wing talking point, which Van pushes back on vigorously. “That’s a lie… There are black people everyday, boots on the ground, all over the place, that are… working to fix this problem… The people that are doing this work in communities everyday, they don’t get the type of reverence… that other people do.”

After calling TMZ “the hospital that will fix the world,” Kanye offers Trump praise for cutting small business regulations and apologizes to Van “for disappointing” him. “I’m just doing what the universe told me,” he said. Speaking with Complex on Wednesday, Van said he was no longer looked up to Kanye: “I feel sad that I lost a hero.”

Kim Kardashian Just Unfollowed Khloé’s Boyfriend Tristan Thompson

In the tabloids, there’s been talk courtesy of sources that Khloé Kardashian’s family believes she deserves better than Tristan Thompson, her NBA-player boyfriend who was publicly revealed to have allegedly cheated on her multiple times days before she gave birth to their daughter, True.

Now, her sister Kim Kardashian is the first to come out publicly against Tristan. She spoke out about his behavior on the Ellen DeGeneres show and additionally unfollowed him on Instagram. Kim’s silence—and with it, look of civil neutrality—are done.

The Instagram unfollow comes shortly after Ellen DeGeneres shared a preview clip of Kim’s appearance on her show Friday. The full interview airs today. Ellen asked Kim about her feelings regarding the Tristan situation. Kim did not hold back:

“Like, I don’t even know how to describe it other than it’s just so fucked up. We really were rooting for Khloé. And we still are. She’s so strong and she’s doing the best she can. It’s a really sad situation all over. I kind of made this rule with my brother: if there’s a baby involved, I’m not going talk—I’m going to keep it cute and keep it classy and not talk too bad on [the parent]—I’m going to try not to say anything too negative because one day, True is going to see this, and it’s just, you know, so messed up.”

All of Kim’s sisters—Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner—and her mother Kris Jenner still follow Tristan on Instagram. None of them have said anything against him publicly on the record.

Khloé herself, People reported on April 25, has made “no decision” on her future with him, a source said, and is “delaying that conversation until she’s ready.”

KAREN MCDOUGAL SETTLES NATIONAL ENQUIRER SUIT

Ex-Playmate Karen McDougal is clear to spill the beans about her alleged affair with Donald Trump … and, perhaps most importantly to her, make a ton o’ money off it.

McDougal had sued the National Enquirer’s parent company, American Media, over a non-disclosure agreement she signed with them in 2016. She got $150k and some promotional perks, and the Enquirer got her exclusive story about the 2006 affair with Trump. She sued to get out of the deal.

Well, they reached a settlement … according to the New York Times, and is now allowed to talk all she wants about her Trump relationship. You’ll recall, McDougal sat down with Anderson Cooper last month for a CNN special.

So, why does the settlement matter? It’s pretty clear based on the terms, which include American Media getting $75k of any future profits Karen makes off selling the Trump story.

Start the countdown to Karen’s tell-all book hitting stores — but ya gotta wonder what’s left for her to reveal. The NYT says she also gets to keep her $150k fee.

Mariah Carey opens up about her battle with bipolar disorder

Mariah Carey has spoken for the first time about her 17-year battle with bipolar disorder.

The singer told People she was first diagnosed with the condition in 2001 after a mental breakdown which resulted in her being admitted to hospital.

Carey, who has sold 200 million records worldwide, said she only recently has sought medical treatment.

She said it came after “the hardest couple of years I’ve been through”.

“Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me,” she explained.

“It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn’t do that anymore.

“I sought and received treatment, I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love – writing songs and making music.”

Carey said she is now having therapy and taking medication for bipolar disorder, which has caused her to have periods of depression and hypomania, which can cause irritability and insomnia.

“I’m actually taking medication that seems to be pretty good. It’s not making me feel too tired or sluggish or anything like that. Finding the proper balance is what is most important,” she told People.

She added that for a long time she thought she had “severe sleep disorder” but whilst working on her album in the studio released “it wasn’t normal insomnia”.

“I was irritable and in constant fear of letting people down,” she added.

“I guess my depressive episodes were characterized by having very low energy. I would feel so lonely and sad – even guilty that I wasn’t doing what I needed to be doing for my career.”

JAY-Z Speaks to David Letterman About His Mother Coming Out as Gay

David Letterman sits down with JAY-Z on the upcoming new episode of his Netflix talk show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” and the discussion includes a brief moment where the rapper gets candid about his mother’s emotional coming out story. JAY-Z rapped about his mother coming out as gay on the “4:44” track “Smile,” and he explains to Letterman just how happy the experience made him.

“Imagine having lived your life for someone else. And you think you’re protecting your kids. And for my mother to have to live as someone that she wasn’t and hide and like, protect her kids — and didn’t want to embarrass her kids, and you know, for all this time,” JAY-Z said. “And for her to sit in front of me and tell me, ‘I think I love someone.’ I mean, I really cried. That’s a real story. I cried because I was so happy for her that she was free.”

JAY-Z told Letterman that his mother spoke to him about her sexual orientation only eight months ago during the making of his album, “4:44.” The rapper admits he knew beforehand that his mother was gay, but that she never opened up to him about it one on one until last year.

“This was the first time we had the conversation,” JAY-Z explained. “And the first time I heard her say she loved her partner. Like, ‘I feel like I love somebody.’ She said, ‘I feel like.’ She held that little bit back, still. She didn’t say, ‘I’m in love,’ she said, ‘I feel like I love someone.’ And I just, I cried. I don’t even believe in crying because you’re happy. I don’t even know what that is.”

Watch JAY-Z discuss his mother’s coming out story in the video below. The rapper’s episode of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” begins streaming on Netflix this Friday, April 6.
