T.I. Curating Pop-up Museum in Atlanta

Trap music will be getting some props thanks to plans by rapper T.I. to curate a museum in Atlanta, Vibe is reporting.

T.I. Curating Pop-up Museum in Atlanta

The pop-up museum is launching 15 years from the release of the artist’s Trap Muzik, which he said he created to draw attention to all the frustrations a Black man in America might have to juggle – from co-parenting to drug addiction, and from society’s negative view to struggling relationships. Atlantic Records produced Trap Muzik in 2003.

T.I. is launching the museum in partnership with hip-hop journalist Maurice Garland, creative artist DL Warfield and others, Vibe reports. Future, 21 Savage, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, and Young Jeezy are some of the artists who will be featured because they helped elevate the public presence of the trap, according to Vibe.

The pop-up museum has a website and Instagram account set up. Both instruct people to “stay tuned.”

When he released Trap Muzik, T.I. said he wanted to create something that would be a classic.

“I knew I had to make timeless music,” Noisey quoted him as saying. “It was about showing that even if you were participating in felonious activities, there were still other things you needed to deal with: you’re not just drug dealing but also dealing with a relationship with your parents, your girlfriend, having a child too young and being looked down on by society as one thing when you’re actually more than that definition.”

He told Noisey, “You might have a homeboy who just died, but he wasn’t even in the streets like that. Trap Muzik was kind of crystallizing this Black experience into a piece of music.”

The pop-up museum will be located in West Atlanta and will open to the public on Sept. 30. Trap music evolved out of Southern hip-hop and is considered a sub-genre.

Mike Will Made It says Miley Cyrus “Smoked More Weed Than Most”

Mike Will Made It says Miley Cyrus “Smoked More Weed Than Most Rappers I Know”
Mike Will Made It sat down with Billboard Magazine and spoke on the current high he’s on after producing the lion’s share of Gucci Mane‘s Everybody Looking album. He also talked about the criticism he has received for working with artists like Miley Cyrus who many have considered to be a cultural appropriator. Mike Will produced “23” on Cyrus’ Bangerz album.

He tells Billboard:

“All I hear is ‘Yo, that sh*t you’re making ain’t hip-hop. People told me that Miley’s ‘23’ wasn’t hip-hop. Let me tell you, she went in and owned that track. She smoked more weed in one week than most rappers I know. That song was not some far-fetched thing she had to reach for. She was ill as hell. When people question me about whether something is hip-hop, I ask them, ‘Does it sound hard? Does it hit home? Is it raw and real?’ If it is, I did my job. And you can call it whatever you want.”

Will and Jada: Close To Divorce

It’s over! After 17 years, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are ending their rocky marriage – with a blockbuster secret divorce deal.

“For Will and Jada, holding it together these past few years has been tough because their marriage has been on life support for a long time,” an insider told Radar.

“They’re exhausted from trying to maintain the façade of a happy union,” the source continued. “They’ve decided to pull the plug in a carefully choreographed manner, [and] agree announcing their split at the end of the summer is the right move.”

The A-listers have already “worked out a confidential settlement to protect their $240 million fortune, and prepare their kids [son Jaden, 17, and daughter Willow, 14] for the fallout,” said the insider.

Hinting at their split earlier this year, the Bad Boys stud, 46, admitted that their marriage had “died” during an interview. Meanwhile, Pinkett Smith, 43, seemed to acknowledge Will’s notorious wandering eye, telling Howard Stern: “I’m not his watcher. He’s a grown man.”

She later added that she’s fine with Will’s ways, “as long as Will can look himself in the mirror and be okay.”

Rumors have persisted since 2013 that Smith romanced his Suicide Squad co-star Margot Robbie. He’s also been pictured without his wedding ring.

Pinkett Smith also allegedly cheated in 2011 with HawthoRNe co-star Marc Anthony.

“They tried to fix things with therapy, [but] it’s not happening,” explained the source.
