Will the Queen Even Attend the Royal Wedding??

So exciting! Prince Harry and his new fiancée Meghan Markle’s wedding will be in May at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, but what many fans are dying to know is if one very special guest, his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, will be in attendance.

Even though there were rumors swirling that she wouldn’t be present for the red-headed royal’s upcoming nuptials, Kensington Palace’s latest announcement suggests that she may be in attendance. “Her Majesty the Queen has granted permission for the wedding to take place at the Chapel,” the statement read on Tuesday, Nov. 28. People has also reported that the Queen will be there.

The couple announced their engagement on Monday, Nov. 27 — and even revealed Elizabeth knew all about the engagement before it happened because Harry asked her permission to propose! “His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle. The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course,” read a statement from Harry’s father, Prince Charles. “His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents. The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace.”

However, some reports suggest that Elizabeth might not attend the special day. Since Elizabeth, 91, is technically the head of the church of England, some say she should not endorse a marriage with someone who’s been divorced. Meghan, 36, was previously hitched to Trevor Engelson from 2011 until 2013.

A source told the news outlet that similar to how she wouldn’t attend her son Prince Charles’ ceremony to Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005, she may not make the exception for her grandson. So upsetting!

However, the red-headed royal, 33, and Meghan are still determined to have as much fun as they can at their big day with or without Elizabeth! “It will be fun, but classy,” a source told Life & Style. “Harry isn’t into the stuffiness and formalities that come with being a royal. He’d rather serve rum cocktails and tequila shots than expensive champagne.” We can’t wait!

NBC’s Matt Lauer Fired for Inappropriate Sexual Behavior

NBC has just fired on-air personality Matt Lauer for allegations of sexual misconduct in the workplace.

NBC Chairman Andrew Lack released the following statement:

On Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer. It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company’s standards. As a result we’ve decided to terminate his employment. While it is the first complain about his behavior in the over twenty years he’s been at NBC News, we were also presented with reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident. Our highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected, and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences no matter who the offender. We are deeply saddened by this turn of events but we will face it together as a news organization — and do it in as transparent a manner as we can.

Meghan Markle to be First Black British Royal??

The engagement of Britain’s Prince Harry to actress Meghan Markle is raising eyebrows on both sides of the Atlantic for a particularly British set of reasons: She’s a biracial woman who will be the first American divorcée to marry into the royal family in nearly 81 years.

Harry, the 33-year-old second son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, quietly proposed to Markle earlier this month. On Tuesday, the royal family announced that Markle will become a British citizen before she marries Harry during a May 2018 ceremony in Windsor Castle. The young couple will live in Nottingham Cottage, part of London’s Kensington Palace.

The famously secretive royal family made the engagement public on Monday. In an interview that evening with the BBC’s Mishal Husain, Markle said she and Harry met in July 2016 on a blind date set up by a mutual friend, then cemented their relationship during a camping trip to Botswana. She said Harry asked her to marry him during what she described as a “cozy night” at home.

“It was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got down on one knee,” she told the BBC. “As a matter of fact, I could barely let you finish proposing. I said, ‘Can I say yes now?'”

The engagement sets the stage for the first royal wedding since Harry’s older brother William, the heir to the British throne, married Kate Middleton in 2011. Nearly 23 million Americans watched TV coverage of the wedding, outstripping the number who had watched Charles’s wedding to Diana in 1981 (the ring Harry gave to Markle included several diamonds that had belonged to his late mother).

The engagement also ends months of speculation about the future of Harry’s relationship with Markle, who took the unusual step of cooperating with an extensive Vanity Fair profile earlier this year.

Markle is no Kate Middleton, who kept a low public profile while dating William and has seamlessly slid into the public role expected of the woman who will be Britain’s next queen.

That’s not just because Markle hails from Los Angeles — she is also divorced, half-Jewish, and biracial. Her mother is African American; her father is white, and Jewish.

It’s also because Markle had a high-profile role on the USA Network show Suits and ran the Tig, a lifestyle blog.

Iconic Georgia Dome Demolished

The 25 years of history that the old Georgia Dome attracted to the Peach State may live on forever, but the historic 80,000 seat venue that hosted the 1,400-plus events that made it famous, was brought down to the ground on Monday, November 20. It took nearly 5,000 pounds of explosives to demolish the structure, drawing lots of attention to the Atlanta sports center.

All but a few parts of the 270.67 ft high, 102,149.51 square foot structure crashed to rubble within 15-seconds of the 7:30 am implosion being set off. A little bit of work remains to get some of the erected parts that remain, down, as the Georgia World Congress Center Authority has determined the explosives may not have been strong enough to get it all in one blast. But it is only a matter of time before the standing parts are decimated and a crew moves in for what is estimated will be a three-month clean-up effort.

Onlookers snapped pictures to capture the venue’s last surviving moments. During its quarter century as the center of Georgia sports, the dome went from being noted at one time as the world’s largest covered stadium to being the only facility to host the NCAA Final Four tournament (2002, 2007, 2013), the Super Bowl (Super Bowl XXVIII and Super Bowl XXXIV), and the Olympics (1996).

In place of the massive structure, the city of Atlanta has plotted out plans to construct green space, a hotel, and a parking lot for the adjacent Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which opened up this past summer.

Jennifer Hudson Splits Up with Longtime Fiancé

According to reports, Jennifer Hudson and longtime fiancé David Otunga have split after 10 years. Hudson also filed to have a restraining order taken out against Otunga to which Otunga’s attorney, Tracy Rizzo, says is a move made out of fear of losing custody of their child. Rizzo told TMZ:

David Otunga has been trying to negotiate the terms of an amicable parenting agreement with Ms. Hudson for several weeks now. However, when it became apparent to Ms. Hudson that Mr. Otunga would be the parent granted residential care of the child, as a result of Mr. Otunga being the child’s primary caregiver while Ms. Hudson pursues her career all over the world, Ms. Hudson decided to file a meritless Petition for Order of Protection in an effort to gain an unfair advantage in the custody dispute. […] As a result of Mr. Otunga’s career in the WWE, Ms. Hudson felt that she could give an award-winning performance in court to portray herself as the victim. Mr. Otunga has never abused or harassed Ms. Hudson or their son.

Jennifer Hudson’s representative told People Magazine that the restraining order was requested “in the best interest of their son.” It is important to note that Otunga isn’t being accused of getting physical with Hudson.

Master P Sues Cannabis Company for Bailing on Partnership

Master P is reportedly taking a California based cannabis company to court for bailing on their partnership, according to TMZ.

Master P got into the legal cannabis industry in November 2016 to launch his own branded strain, “Master P’s Trees” and brokered a deal with Privateer Holdings in March 2017. P was to promote the product and cover 50 percent of the production costs while Privateer cultivated the product and covered the other half. “Master P’s Trees” were set to launch in July, but according to court documents, the company backed out of the partnership at the last minute.

Master P is suing Privateer on the grounds of fraud and breach of contract claiming that they had no real intent to partner with him. Court docs state that Privateer only saw Master P as a way to get “an inside look into the urban and hip-hop demographic of cannabis users.”

For this, Master P is seeking $25 million in lost profits and damages.

Teacher Suspended After Pulling Off Student’s Hijab

A teacher at the New Vision Academy Charter School in Nashville, Tennessee, was suspended Wednesday after two videos circulating on social media of someone removing a girl’s hijab was traced back to the educator.

In the first video, which is captioned “pretty hair,” the student wearing the hijab is shown hiding her face as someone removed the religious head scarf and exposed her hair to the classroom. Multiple students are seen playing with the girl’s hair as she tries to readjust the covering. Someone told her “her hair was too pretty to be covered.” A second video was posted with the caption, “lol all that hair covered up.”

A concerned viewer sent the videos to News 4. Both of the clips were reportedly posted on the teacher’s Snapchat account. When contacted by the media, the principal, Dr. Tim Malone began investigating immediately.

The teacher initially denied recording the video and said touching the hijab was not done out of disrespect. The girl’s mother and sister were very upset after they watched the video, saying, “This should never happen.”

In a statement to the news station Wednesday, Malone wrote that the teacher was suspended without pay:

“New Vision Academy is a diverse school. As a school community, we pride ourselves on embracing and celebrating our racial, ethnic, religious and economic diversity. Our students learn and grow, best when they learn from one another. To foster this environment, all students must feel respected and supported.

The actions depicted in the Snapchat video do not reflect the values, culture or climate of New Vision Academy. New Vision Academy will continue to emphasize that all staff members act in a way meant to empower and inspire our students. New Vision will use this video as an opportunity to press forward with increasing cultural sensitivity and awareness among all members of the New Vision community. The staff member in question has been suspended, without pay, and we have had direct discussions with the students depicted in the Snapchat. New Vision Academy apologizes for this unfortunate incident, and will be better in the future.”

Artists Awarded Damages in Graffiti Case

Brooklyn federal jurors ruled in the favor of 21 graffiti artists after a day of deliberations in the despite between land developers and the artists responsible for painting the historic Queens art Mecca known as 5 Pointz. The American mural space at 45-46 David Street in Long Island City was founded in 1993, and was a huge staple in the hip hop and art scene. It was recently closed down and whitewashed as developers have plans to build luxury rental space in the area.

Artists Awarded Damages in Graffiti Case

The collective of artists sued real estate developer Jerry Wolkoff under the Visual Artists Rights Act — a law passed in 1990 that protects artwork of “recognized stature.” The 49 pieces of graffiti that covered the location were legally protected when Wolkoff painted over them during the night without warning nearly 4 years ago. According to the counsel for the artists, each of the 21 were awarded damages.

In an interview with HipHopDX, Baum said “The jury sided strongly with the rights of the artists. This is a clear message from the people that the whitewash of the building by its owner Gerald Wolkoff was a cruel and willful act.”

This is the first trial that cites the Visuals Artists Rights Act, however, the jury’s decision was an advisory ruling, the final call is still a judge’s to make.
