Young Thug Arrested For Missing Court

Young Thug was arrested at Lenox Square Mall in Atlanta, Ga. on Thursday (Dec. 22). The JEFFREY creator was taken into custody for missing a court date.

According to TMZ, officers were responding to a stolen vehicle report and were looking for a suspect in the mall. During their search for the suspect, one of the cops recognized Thugger walking through the mall and remembered he’d recently skipped a court date for excessive window tinting. The cops arrested Thug for the warrant, booked him and released him on $500 bond.

For real, though: who can blame Thugger for wanting to tint his windows? As one of the biggest names in hip-hop at the moment, it makes sense that he wouldn’t want to get recognized in his own car. It’s also a safety issue.
It’s been a rough couple weeks since Thug spazzed on a couple airport employees, calling them names and offering them money to quit their jobs. First, he got dropped while trying to crowd surf at a concert in New York City. And, yesterday, he was booked for missing a court date, which must’ve been another annoying ordeal.

In other Young Thug-related news, the ATL artist recently spoke with Paper Magazine and talked about his desire to help fight poverty in Atlanta this holiday season.
“I think people only care about what affects them. It’s selfish, but I think it’s the truth,” he says. “If they are not affected by being poor, they don’t typically fight for it. I remember not having anything, so I want to always stay involved. Whenever I go back to my side of town – Cleveland Ave – I know I have to bring money, because there’ll be friends or cousins or people I knew from 6th grade who are going to ask me for money. My fiancée always says I look like Santa Claus, because I’m just giving everyone something.”

Camila Cabello leaves Fifth Harmony

Camila Cabello has left Fifth Harmony, the group announced in a note on Twitter late Sunday night.

Camila Cabello leaves Fifth Harmony

Though 5H did not cite a reason for her departure, they wrote, “After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representative, that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well.”

The note continued: “You Harmonizers have been there with us since the beginning, you’ve supported us, you’ve rejoiced and cried with us, you’ve grown with us, and with your love and support, we will continue on.”

They also wrote that the group will continue on as a foursome, though the current members —Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane Hansen, Lauren Jauregui, and Normani Kordei — will also work on their “solo endeavors.”

Just hours before the announcement, Cabello performed with 5H at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour in Florida.

Fifth Harmony formed in 2012 during the second season of The X Factor USA, after all five of the members auditioned as soloists. As a quintet, they put out two albums, 2015’s Reflection and this year’s 7/27, and an EP, 2013’s Better Together.

But during their time as a group, Cabello was also putting out solo music with other artists. Last year, she and Shawn Mendes debuted “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which went platinum, and most recently, she and rapper Machine Gun Kelly released “Bad Things,” which hit No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fifth Harmony hit it big this year with “Work From Home,” the lead single off 7/27 (and EW’s second favorite song of the year). It was their highest-charting single yet, peaking at No. 4 on the Hot 100 in June.

According to NFL.com, the 29-year-old former tow truck driver and semi-pro football player was also convicted of attempted manslaughter for wounding Smith’s wife, Racquel Smith and will be sentenced in February. In a statement, Racquel’s attorney said, “Because of the upcoming sentencing hearing, in which Racquel will provide a victim impact statement, she does not feel it is appropriate to comment on the facts of the case at this time.” Her attorney continued, “The main focus of Will Smith’s family is to see Mr. Hayes justly sentenced for the murder he so callously committed.”

Dakota Access Pipeline Victory For Standing Rock Tribe

The US Army Corps of Engineers on Sunday announced they will no longer allow the Dakota Access Pipeline to cross under a lake near the Standing Rock reservation in North Dakota, marking a huge win for Native Americans and protesters who had long opposed the construction.

“Today, the US Army Corps of Engineers announced that it will not be granting the easement to cross Lake Oahe for the proposed Dakota Access Pipeline,” Standing Rock Sioux Tribal chairman Dave Archambault II said in a statement sent to BuzzFeed News. “Instead, the Corps will be undertaking an environmental impact statement to look at possible alternative routes.
“We wholeheartedly support the decision of the administration and commend with the utmost gratitude the courage it took on the part of President Obama, the Army Corps, the Department of Justice, and the Department of the Interior to take steps to correct the course of history and to do the right thing.”
“It took tremendous courage to take a new approach to our nation-to-nation relationship, and we will be forever grateful,” he said.
Assistant Army Secretary for Civil Works Jo-Ellen Darcy said she based her decision on a need to explore alternate pipeline routes.
“Although we have had continuing discussion and exchanges of new information with the Standing Rock Sioux and Dakota Access, it’s clear that there’s more work to do,” Darcy said in a statement. “The best way to complete that work responsibly and expeditiously is to explore alternate routes for the pipeline crossing.”

Energy Transfer Partners, the company building the pipeline, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Since August, thousands of demonstrators have camped at the Standing Rock site to stand with Native Americans in opposing the 1,172-mile long pipeline, which is designed to carry 20 million gallons of oil across the Midwest every day.

Tribe members and environmentalists feared damage to local water supplies and the desecration of sacred land.

They argued in court that the pipeline “crosses areas of great historical and cultural significance” and “crosses waters of utmost cultural, spiritual, ecological, and economic significance.”

The tribe successfully mobilized national support, with demonstrators marching in Washington DC and elsewhere to pressure the government to abandon the construction.
Sunday’s decision represents a huge win for the local tribe and their supporters, as well as a dramatic shift in the reaction of authorities, who had previously ordered all demonstrators to leave the campsite by Monday.
