The annual contest will be hosted by ESPN broadcaster Sage Steele and former “The Bachelor” star Chris Harrison. The judging position is merely the latest undertaking by Ciara outside of the music-making industry in recent years. The artist, who rose to fame in the early 2000s, appeared in the Adam Sandler comedy “That’s My Boy” in 2012, and she also starred in the musical drama “Mama I Want to Sing” that year. Likewise, she hosted the Billboard Music Awards alongside fellow hip-hop artist Ludacris in May, and she’s worked with fashion brands such as Roberto Cavalli as well. Her most recent album, “Jackie,” dropped in 2015.

It’s been a momentous year for the “Goodies” artist, as she married NFL star quarterback Russell Wilson in July. The duo, who wed in London, originally planned to tie the knot in North Carolina but decided to move the wedding in response to the state’s controversial LGBT bathroom laws, their wedding planner told The Knot this week.

The victims claim that by shouting that line, the pair ignited the stampede, which caused concert-goers to fall about 10 feet onto a slab of concrete. Nearly 40 people were hurt at the waterfront amphitheater event and several people were hospitalized after the collapse. One victim says that he suffered a fractured spine, the gossip site reported. Attendee Katie Colbridge tweeted that the mishap occurred when the duo switched stages. “A pile formed,” she tweeted. “It was when Wiz and Snoop came to the lawn on the smaller stage.”

Akon Talks About Giving Millions Electricity in Africa

Akon stopped by to talk with VladTV about his light up Africa Project, how he used to live without electricity, and how the politics of starting his project were extremely tricky.

Akon Talks Giving Millions Electricity Akon Talks Giving Millions Electricity

Akon let us know that he grew up in Senegal a small country on the West coast of Africa. Akon grew up without electricity and running water, and when it came time to eat, cook, or wash he had to use the same water from a running water well for everything. “When I came to the United States, and [saw] the projects or what they claimed to be projects, Vlad I thought they was living in luxury, compared to what poverty is back home…” Akon explained that the US citizens have it a lot better than others around the world.

Akon Talks Giving Millions Electricity

So what led to Akon lighting up Africa? His grandmother was the main inspiration. He explained she never moved from her hometown and still lived without electricity. “Every time I would come, I would try to upgrade her, but she would never take it… one day I said ma I’m not coming to visit you anymore… you have to at least let me put electricity in the house. Come to find out the grid was so far out; I don’t care how much money I had there was no way I could bring electricity to her.” That’s when he said something had to be done, not just for his grandmother but for everyone in the rural area living without power. “Without electricity, you can’t even begin to develop a country, let alone your own home.”

Akon Talks Giving Millions Electricity

Akon got started by partnering with a some of his Billionaire friends he made along his career, and he wanted to build power plants in the five major areas of Africa so the countries could share the plants, but as he got his investors together, he began running into the politics. “I started to realize how deep it was cause this is the type of business that starts real wars, the politics was little heavier than I expected…”Akon explained it was too complicated for him to be dealing with, so while searching for another solution, he came across Solar Energy. “So I went to China, met up with some friends out there, some manufacturers, and aligned myself with one of the biggest companies in China, that’s own by the Chinese Government, that manufactures Solar…” Akon learned a lot while doing this project, like how there was a significant tax on solar products due to George. W Bush. “He did it because his main agenda was in oil, he needed the oil to keep burning right, so anything renewable he wanted to keep away because if effected the money.” Akon took advantage of all of the unused solar products, and the Chinese manufacturers gave him a Billion dollar credit line to start his project. Akon’s project is now in 15 countries, and he’s provided almost 16 million people in Africa with power, and energy.

BIRDMAN SUED FOR SAMPLING MUSIC

We all know Cash Money CEO Birdman is no stranger to lawsuits or paying them in that matter. Well today he got hit hard by some writers in the tune of a few million dollars.

BIRDMAN SUED FOR SAMPLING MUSIC

Lil Wayne & Cash Money sampled some tracks for their song “You” and “Certified” and well apparently Birdman doesn’t want to pay up. What is ironic is Lil Wayne claims Birdman did the same thing to him as well which has a current separate lawsuit.

BIRDMAN SUED FOR SAMPLING MUSIC

Birdman and Cash Money now have to pay the veteran writers a sum of $3.3 Million although Lil Wayne is still suing Birdman for $51 Million. We’re told Birdman will be paying the writers since he just scored a huge label deal with Apple Music.

BIRDMAN SUED FOR SAMPLING MUSIC

The question is will Lil Wayne get awarded his judgement in his $51 Million lawsuit? Or we will continue to see wearing “F*ck Cash Money” hats and dissing the label. Lil Wayne might want to talk to his lawyers once Birdman’s label deal is finalized.

Ryan Lochte Apologizes For Rio Incident

One day after the head of the U.S. Olympic Committee issued a formal apology to Rio and Brazil over his and others’ behavior, swimming star Ryan Lochte says he should have been more careful and candid.

rs_1024x759-160812045646-1024.Ryan-Lochte-Rio-JR-081216

“I want to apologize for my behavior last weekend,” Lochte wrote on Instagram, “for not being more careful and candid in how I described the events of that early morning and for my role in taking the focus away from the many athletes fulfilling their dreams of participating in the Olympics.”

The apology comes one day after Rio police said Lochte, 32, fabricated a robbery story in which he claimed a group of armed men posing as police robbed him and three other swimmers as they were returning to the Athletes Village early Sunday morning.

“There was no robbery,” Rio de Janeiro Civil Police Chief Fernando Veloso said Thursday, announcing the results of a high-profile investigation into Lochte’s report that he and three other U.S. swimmers — James Feigen, 26; Gunnar Bentz, 20; and Jack Conger, 21 — had been held up at gunpoint during their time at the Summer Olympics.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Of the four, Lochte was the first to leave the country, thus eluding an attempt by police to seize his and Feigen’s passports earlier this week.

The story has been a complicated one, with many viewing the robbery claim as an inexplicable allegation that made what might have been a molehill — swimmers argue with gas station employees, and no punches are thrown — into a mountain that involved the U.S. diplomatic corps and the publication of security camera footage from both the gas station and the Athletes Village.

gettyimages-589071354_custom-4fb2bfc4e6aeaebce17441e4bd8b08cbcbeae08f-s800-c85

In Brazil, the response to the robbery allegation has been sharp. As of Friday morning, a Google news search for Lochte’s name and the Portuguese word mentiroso (“liar”) returned nearly 5,800 results.

One hour after Lochte posted his statement on Instagram, it had already garnered 6,300 comments. While some of those responses were sympathetic to Lochte, others were not.

“Your excuses are more false than your blonde hair,” one reads, followed by this summary: “drunk American.”

Here’s another: “It’s too late, bro… Damage is done! This marketing speech won’t save it… Btw, you were held under gun point to control yourselves ’cause you were all crazy drunk breaking stuff at the gas station! You’re the ones who offered money so the gas station employees wouldn’t call the police. Don’t apologize for a lie lying again.”

maxresdefault

Lochte’s statement — which doesn’t acknowledge contradictions between the now-accepted version of events and what Lochte’s lawyer earlier this week called “a witness statement under oath” that the swimmer gave to police in claiming a robbery — stops well short of the tone struck by other U.S. officials.

“The behavior of these athletes is not acceptable,” U.S. Olympic Committee CEO Scott Blackmun said late Thursday night. He apologized to “the people of Brazil for this distracting ordeal in the midst of what should rightly be a celebration of excellence.”

Here’s how Blackmun summarized the events of that night:

“As we understand it, the four athletes (Bentz, Conger, [James] Feigen and Ryan Lochte) left France House early in the morning of August 14 in a taxi headed to the Olympic Village. They stopped at a gas station to use the restroom, where one of the athletes committed an act of vandalism. An argument ensued between the athletes and two armed gas station security staff, who displayed their weapons, ordered the athletes from their vehicle and demanded the athletes provide a monetary payment. Once the security officials received money from the athletes, the athletes were allowed to leave.”

While Lochte had already left Rio before police sought him, Bentz and Conger weren’t so fortunate. After they were pulled off a U.S.-bound airliner for questioning Wednesday, their passports were seized, and they spent hours at a police station before staying in Brazil for an extra night.

After the pair gave testimony about the morning in question, their passports were returned; they left Rio on Thursday, U.S. officials say.

As for Feigen, it now seems that he has resolved his legal troubles. Multiple news outlets in Rio are citing Feigen’s Brazilian attorney who says the swimmer made an agreement with a Brazilian judge that will see him donate 35,000 reals ($10,800) to a youth sports group in order to settle the issue and allow him to leave the country.

After Lochte’s statement was published, Rio 2016 spokesman Mario Andrada said Friday, “We obviously accept his apology and appreciate it.”

“Understand that the Brazilian population was quite disappointed in the actions and the facts,” he added, saying that around 1.8 million people had complained about the case on the Rio 2016 Twitter account.

rio-olympics-swimming

Saying “it’s clear the Brazilian population felt humiliated by the early part of the issue,” Andrada concluded that he thinks people in Brazil “will accept his apologies.”

When the USOC’s Blackmun apologized to the people of Brazil last night, he said that he’ll review the matter and consider possible consequences for the athletes.

Those consequences might include action by the national governing body. As NPR’s Howard Berkes tells us, USA Swimming’s code of conduct includes a broad rule concerning athletes’ behavior that is “detrimental to the image or reputation of USA Swimming … or the sport of swimming.”

Possible punishments for breaking that rule include being kicked out of the federation.

USA Swimming and the International Olympic Committee said separately they will investigate the matter, but gave no time frame on how long that might take.

How Simone Biles Won Our Hearts

It’s a wrap for US gymnast Simone Biles at the Rio Olympics. The 4-foot-8 powerhouse made her final stand at the 2016 games with a floor exercise the won her a gold medal. She’ll leave Rio with one bronze medal and four golds. That’s the most golds any US gymnast—male or female—has collected in a single Olympics.

With 19 Olympic and world competition medals, Biles also becomes the most decorated gymnast in US history, breaking the previous record held by Shannon Miller.

But America’s love for Biles isn’t all about the bling. The 19-year-old Texan also won our hearts with her virtuoso routines and awe-inspiring power tumbles. She showed us that teenage girls can be both serious athletes and giggly, fun-loving adolescents. And her triumphs have been felt by black women around the country during a period of tense race relations in the US.

Here are all the ways Biles won our hearts during the Rio games:

She dazzled audiences with her nearly flawless routines and was even called “the greatest gymnast of all time.”

She was more excited for team captain Aly Raisman than herself when the pair shared the podium in the individual all-around finals.

Biles clinched the gold, becoming the second consecutive African-American woman to take the accolade. Raisman won the silver.

Gymnastics - Artistic - Olympics: Day 6
After the women’s all-around last week, Biles shut down any comparisons to renowned male Olympians and made it clear that her accomplishments were her own. “I’m not the next Usain Bolt or Michael Phelps,” she told Sporting News. “I’m the first Simone Biles.”

Biles stumbled and nearly fell off the beam during the competition, but held on. The slip up cost her the gold, but she took it like a champ.

Biles is a big supporter of her male counterparts. She reportedly went out of her way to watch American gymnast Alex Naddour compete.
Biles got a lot of love during the games from celebrities including Taylor Swift, Floyd Mayweather, rapper G-Eazy, and Kim Kardashian-West, whose two-year-old daughter North is apparently quite taken with Biles. But it was her celebrity crush Zac Efron who truly made the Olympian star-struck.
The actor, who is a big fan of the Final Five, surprised the young women during an NBC broadcast on Tuesday night (Aug. 17). And they all lost their cool.

He gave Biles, who reportedly has a life-size cardboard cutout of the actor in her home, a cute kiss on the cheek.

Last, but not least, Biles has an amazing support team in her family, 17 of whom flew to Rio. In Biles’ own words: “Family is everything.”SOURCE: QZ
