After signing her multi-million dollar deal with Columbia Records executive Shawn Holiday, Remy Ma made a new partnership with Lil Kim. According to TMZ, Remy Ma and Lil Kim are teaming up to make a new Nicki Minaj diss record. Allegedly the track is called “Wake Me Up” and it’s filled with subliminal shots at Nicki Minaj.
“That crown I’m gon take that sh*t. Cause you a clown and homie don’t play that sh*t.”
“I heard he lay that d***. You let them filet that fish. You just met him how he bae that quick?”
It appears that Remy is throwing shots at Nicki’s relationship with Nas, which publicly appeared to take off quickly. Allegedly Remy and Kim shot a video for the record last week in the Bronx. We’ll keep you updated on any new developments of the track.
Remy Ma also has a new manager. Tamar Braxton’s soon to be ex-husband, Vincent Herbert is now on board. It looks like Remy is gearing up to take over 2018. With the emergence of other female acts such as Young M.A and Cardi B, it’s great to see Remy working with another female emcee, but is dissing Nicki Minaj good for the culture?
Remy Ma returned for the eighth season of Love & Hip Hop: New York, which premiered last night (Oct. 30) on VH1. In music related news, the Bronx rapper has signed a multi-million dollar deal with Columbia Records. The label will release Rem’s first solo effort since her release from prison in 2014.
The news surfaced on social media earlier today, but a representative from Columbia Records confirmed the deal with XXL. However, they chose to remain mum on the details surrounding the implications of the deal, the monetary value, or when her first solo record would be released.
While we wait for solo music from the femcee, she has recently been working with Lil Kim, who she had a longstanding beef with, in the past. The two traded a number of diss tracks with each other, but it seems like they are ushering in a wave of female artists working together. Remy has expressed discussing a potential collaboration with fellow Bronxite Cardi B.
The rise of Chance The Rapper has been a rapid one. The rapper has managed to garner critical praise for his Coloring Book album along with him setting up initiatives to raise money for the Chicago Public School system.
However, it looks as if his past may be giving him some trouble, as he is being sued for copyright infringement. The lawsuit stems from a jazz musician named Abdul Wali Muhammad who says the rapper used a “significant portion” of one of his songs on his track “Windows.” According to the document filed by the musician and his lawyer, “blatant and willful infringement” of Muhammad’s song “Bridge Through Time” took place.
For those unaware, “Windows” was a song featured on Chance The Rapper’s 2012 mixtape 10 Days. Because of that, Muhammad has issued a request to a federal judge asking the rapper to refrain from “copying, distributing, performing, selling or offering to sell” the track “Windows.”
Muhammad’s lawyer went on to say “Chance failed and refused to take any action to halt access to the infringing song,” even though Muhammad directly reached out to the artist about the pending issue. No one from Chance’s team has commented on the situation.

As if Jay Z didn’t have enough on his hands, the hip-hop legend has just shared details on a new album, 4:44. But you won’t be able to buy it or stream it just anywhere.
The album will drop June 30 for subscribers of Sprint or Jay Z’s Tidal platform through what’s pitched as a first-of-its-kind partnership between both companies.
Chatter on a new Hov LP heated up in recent weeks, and the entrepreneur and music man threw fuel on that fire last week with a mysterious campaign which saw the numbers “4:44” and the date “6.30.17” dished up on posters and online.
The plot thickened in the hours before midnight when a teaser video appeared on Tidal. Then the big revealed happened as the clock struck twelve.
The corporate partnership behind the U.S. release is the first in a series of music exclusives, according to a joint statement, and it follows the announcement in January that Tidal sold a 33 percent stake in the company to Sprint for $200 million, giving it access to the telecom company’s 45 million customers. Outside the U.S., 4:44 will be available to stream only on Tidal for now. It’s unclear for how long the exclusive window will last, though Billboard has reached out to reps for comment.
As part of the U.S. campaign, Tidal and Sprint have pledged support to the 1Million Project, an educational initiative from Sprint and the Sprint Foundation that will assist 1 million low-income U.S. high school students who aren’t connected to the Web at home.
News on the surprise album release caps an eventful week during which Jay Z and his wife Beyonce welcomed twins and the artist was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, becoming the first rapper to achieve that honor. The new LP is the followup to 2013’s Magna Carta… Holy Grail, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
