Police Put on Leave after Arresting Nurse

A Salt Lake City police officer has been put on paid leave after he was filmed arresting and roughing up a nurse at a hospital for refusing to allow blood to be drawn from an unconscious patient.

Nurse Alex Wubbels said she was frightened when the police officer handcuffed and dragged her screaming from the hospital in July.

After Wubbels and her lawyers released the dramatic footage of the arrest in the state of Utah, prosecutors called for a criminal investigation and Salt Lake City police put Detective Jeff Payne on paid leave on Friday.

In a tweet, the police department said another “employee” who was involved was also on administrative leave pending investigation.

“This cop bullied me. He bullied me to the utmost extreme,” Wubbels said in an interview with The Associated Press news agency. “And nobody stood in his way.”

The Salt Lake City police chief and mayor apologised and changed department policies in line with the guidance Wubbels was following in the July 26 incident.

Wubbels said she adhered to her training and hospital protocols to protect the rights of a patient who could not speak for himself.

The video has gone viral, with many on social media once again raising questions about police brutality in the United States.

Payne wrote in a police report that he grabbed Wubbels and took her outside to avoid causing a “scene” in the emergency room.

He said his boss, a lieutenant whose actions also were being reviewed, told him to arrest Wubbels if she kept interfering.

The detective left Wubbels in a police car for 20 minutes before realising that blood had already been drawn as part of treatment, said her lawyer, Karra Porter. Wubbels was not charged.

The hospital said it is proud of the way Wubbels handled the situation.

The patient was a victim in a car crash and Payne wanted the blood sample to show he had done nothing wrong, according to the officer’s written report.

The patient, William Gray, is a reserve police officer in Rigby, Idaho, according to the city’s police. They thanked Wubbels for protecting his rights.

Gray is a semi-truck driver and was on the road when a pick-up truck fleeing from authorities slammed into him and his truck burst into flames, police reports say.

DMX Bai Revoked, Judge Orders House Arrest

DMX received a tongue lashing and a heavy handed warning as the judge presiding over his tax evasion case confronted him for his irresponsible behavior while out on bail. However, he got to go home despite having failed several drug tests over the past month.

Judge Jed Rakoff had apparently had enough with the 46-year-old Yonkers rapper prior to his late arriving at a bail hearing at Manhattan Federal Court on Friday, August 11. It had been a mere one day since news got out that X recently broke the terms of his bond arrangement by leaving the state to visit family in St. Louis, and he was already sparing the rapper from having to pay some pretty serious repercussions for a different violation. According to Rakoff, DMX has tested positive for cocaine, marijuana, and opiates on four occasions in less than four weeks.

Attorney Murray Richman went to bat for his client, by reminding the judge that Simmons has a problem with substance abuse, but Rakoff reportedly wasn’t having it, firing back, “It sounds like total self-denial.” In response to the infraction, Rakoff ordered X to serve house arrest with an electronic bracelet on his ankle and warned that “it will be the end of his career and the end of living a decent life,” if the rapper jumps bail.

Before dismissing DMX, Judge Rakoff turned his focus solely on Richman, saying, ”The lesson he seems to have learned over the last few weeks is Murray Richman will always get him off.”

2017 won’t be as easy as Plies set out for it to be, as it is reported that his driver’s license has been suspended for 1 year.

The Fort Myers rapper faces charges in connection with a January arrest for DUI. A dash cam recording of him being detained recently surfaced to show Plies complying with police as they went into his pockets and he confided in having been in possession of a registered fire arm. The footage was taken moments after officers cited the rapper zooming in the wrong direction down a one-way street.

It remains to be seen how Plies will adapt to being without a ride, as the driver’s seat is what has coincidentally helped him drive his marketing. Followers on Instagram have come to acquaint the chatty Floridian with his regular posting of witty videos from behind the wheel.

The state’s decision to revoke the rapper’s license comes as a formality which establishes that citizens automatically forfeit their driving privileges when they refuse breath, urine or blood testing for alcohol. Plies reportedly turned down a Breathalyzer test during his arrest.
